WAYS TO ALMOST GET KILLED FOR MONEY

JOB 01 — THE MEMORY THIEF

A corporate defector has something CogniData wants extracted and wiped. The defector does not know this is the job.

Objective: Find one Marco Pellegrini, currently hiding in Termini Morta. Extract a specific memory (his last day at CogniData). Return the extraction. Leave him functional.

Complication: Pellegrini knows the job is coming. He has hired his own protection. The protection is a rogue android who has decided protecting him is its Obsession.

Twist: The memory contains something CogniData did not tell you about — a list of names. People whose memories were extracted without consent. One of them is someone in the party.

JOB 02 — SACRAMENT RUN

Move a shipment of Sacrament Seven from Ostiense to Parioli. Don't ask what's in it. Don't open it. Don't be late.

Objective: Transport twelve sealed canisters across the city. Two-hour window. SecCorp checkpoints are doubled today.

Complication: The Luddite Enclave knows about the shipment and wants it destroyed. They've hired their own crew.

Twist: One canister is different. Heavier. Warm. It occasionally makes a sound. The Vatican contact says nothing about this when asked. When pushed: "Do not open it. Do not ask why."

JOB 03 — EXTRACTION

Get one android out of an ARM processing facility in EUR Fantasma before it is decommissioned in the morning.

Objective: ARM Facility 7, EUR Fantasma. The android (registered as Unit 441-C) is scheduled for termination at dawn. Four hours.

Complication: Unit 441-C does not want to leave. It has decided it deserves what is coming. Convincing it otherwise is the real job.

Twist: Unit 441-C has met the party before. Under different circumstances. It remembers everything. It will say so once extracted, if extracted.

JOB 04 — THE JOURNALIST

Protect a journalist long enough for them to broadcast something. Then get out before the broadcast is traced back to you.

Objective: Keep one Alessia Mori alive for three hours while she records and transmits. Three factions want this stopped.

Complication: Alessia is not transmitting what the Collective thinks she is transmitting. She is transmitting something considerably more dangerous.

Twist: The story is about one of the characters. Alessia has been researching them for six months. It is accurate. Every word is accurate.

JOB 05 — THE QUIET JOB

Retrieve a physical document from a Parioli penthouse. Simple. Clean. In and out. Nobody gets hurt.

Objective: The Marchetti penthouse, Parioli Superiore, floor 34. The document is in a physical safe. Zanardi has the combination. In and out.

Complication: The Marchetti family is home. A party is in progress. The guest list includes two SecCorp senior officers and one Kardinal-Enforcer.

Twist: The document is a will. Zanardi is in it. Zanardi is the only beneficiary. Zanardi did not mention this. Zanardi does not know the party knows this now.

JOB 06 — SOMETHING IN OSTIENSE

Find out what is in the sealed building on Via Benedetta. Something is in there. It has been there for three weeks. Nobody who has gone in has come out.

Objective: Determine the contents of the building. Report back. Do not destroy anything. Do not let anything out.

Complication: The something is an android. It has been in Glitch for three weeks. It is not violent. It is making something. The scale of what it is making is the problem.

Twist: The anonymous client is ARM. The android in the building is on their termination list. The 500 lire up front was to locate it. There is no second payment. There is a compliance team outside.

JOB 07 — THE DEBT

Collect a debt. Physical collection. The debtor has been ignoring conventional communication.

Objective: Find one Sergio Conte. Recover 2400 lire or equivalent value in goods. Return both.

Complication: Sergio Conte has spent the money on information, not product. The information he bought concerns a SecCorp operation that has not been made public. He is not paying it back. He is trying to figure out what to do with it.

Twist: The information is about the party. Specifically: the distributor who hired them is cooperating with SecCorp. The job is to eliminate a witness, not collect a debt. Sergio Conte knows this. He will tell whoever comes through the door first.

JOB 08 — MARLA-J'S REQUEST

Marla-J needs something done that cannot involve Mort. She is very clear about this. She will not explain why.

Objective: Retrieve a specific person from Pharma-Vatican custody in the Via Sacra Nera compound. Quietly. Without Mort finding out.

Complication: The person is being held because they know something about Marla-J's past. The Vatican knows Marla-J will try to retrieve them. They are waiting.

Twist: Mort finds out. He always finds out. He arrives exactly when things are at their worst. His version of helping and your version of helping are going to conflict. The person being retrieved has an opinion about this that nobody asked for.
